Overview: Christopher P. Felts Christopher Felts is a partner in Barnes & Thornburg LLP's Corporate Department and the Governmental Services & Finance Department. He is a member of the firm's Global Services and Economic Development Practice Groups. He concentrates his efforts in the areas of general corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, economic development, and international business law. In his practice, Mr. Felts counsels clients in such matters as corporate governance, drafting and interpreting contracts, buying and selling businesses, women and minority business certification, and understanding and making use of available state and local economic development incentives. Mr. Felts represents numerous foreign companies doing business in the United States as well as U.S. companies seeking to do business abroad. Prior to entering the legal profession, Mr. Felts enjoyed a career in public service, serving for one year in the office of Indiana Governor Evan Bayh and for seven years with the Indiana Department of Commerce. His final post in state government was as deputy director of the International Trade Division of the Indiana Department of Commerce. He is fluent in Spanish. Mr. Felts is a 1999 graduate of the Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis. He received his B.A. magna cum laude in 1992 with majors in political science and Spanish from DePauw University, where he served as president of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Felts is admitted to practice in the state of Indiana and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is a member of the American, Indiana State, and Indianapolis Bar Associations, and the World Trade Club of Indiana. Mr. Felts is the former chairman of the board of directors of Scecina Memorial High School, serves on the Indianapolis Archdiocesan Education Commission, is a board member for the Immigration Welcome Center, and is an advisory board member of the Indiana University Center for International Business Education and Research. He was named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Indiana Governor Joe Kernan.
